Kawasaki prairie 400 problems

1 post · Joined 2009. #1 · Sep 7, 2009. 1997 Prairie 400. Set up for couple years.Wouldn't start. Cleaned carburetor and it started. Problem is it won't idle. I can turn the idle screw all the way and it is still not high enough rpm to keep running. Must be something I missed, but I can't see it. Maybe someone can help me out.

I bought the quad about a week ago, everything worked great other than the fact it had no rear brakes. I went to go out and play in the mud a bit this weekend, and fell thru some ice into a swamp, just over the bottom of the running boards, the quad continued running and never died.

After the bleeding, I can go from 5 to 20 miles w/o a problem. The first sign of trouble is a hard shimmy in the front end and then it locks up.2003 Prairie 360 Timing and carb. One ride told me I didn't want one due to the suspension. It rode like the old Honda 350 4x4 with the solid front axle.Without these three requirements, the engine won’t start and continue to run. It's probably the spring loaded gear selector fork under the shifter assy behind the rear head. it's VERY easy for one side of that spring mechanism to fall off when assembling. this way you don't get a full throw when putting it in gear with the hand shifter. 1999 Prairie 300 Starter Removal Problem.
