Better advice is to take an extra semester or year. This gives you more time to network in college, beef up your resume, and you take less classes per semester which is much less stressful. It's hard. All engineering is hard. If you can get A's and B's in AP classes you certainly have the intellectual capacity, if that's what you're asking. Naturally, the role of intelligence in being a successful student is usually overstated. You're going to have to work hard, but if you enjoy it, it won't suck.I'm considering changing my career path to coding and was wondering whether it's too late for me to switch or if it's a bad idea. I'd love to hear from others who have made similar career changes or who have experience in both fields. Please be sure that your post is short and succinct. Primary notes are taken directly from the main source of class content (generally lectures, sometimes textbook). Their purpose is to cover the material thoroughly. Secondary notes are things like equation sheets and study guides, and are derived from primary notes. If they don't get to the point where they bring up internship opportunities, then ask them. If however, you make obvious connections from DE to LA (just to name two of the most obvious yet helpful) like the Wronskian being a determinant to find the bases of an abstract vector space ...Anything that breaks Reddit site-wide rules. Calc 1 and 2 you actually learn totally new concepts. In my experience, you are tested on those concepts so the formulas are smaller and there aren't as many of them. Calc 3 switches gears, it is assumed you know how to integrate and differentiate. Partials take like 5 minutes to understand if you know how ...Engineering is far too large of a profession for it to be dominated by statistical outliers of high intelligence. The people you perceive as being far smarter than you are very likely just people who are more confident, have a more optimal learning approach, better study habits, or greater interest in the subject. Prioritize time for the important classes over gen-Ed’s / less important classes. Having a job in engineering school really just tests your time management skills. For longer term assignments you may need to plan when you are going to work on them around your work schedule and other assignments. 2.Knowledge of basic to intermediate electrical engineering principles is fundamental. It's a pain in the ass but if you want to be a good engineer (mechanical or otherwise), you'll have to suck it up and grasp as much as you can while you still can. At the end of the day, mechanical and electrical engineering go hand in hand. Wolfram Alpha Pro is worth it weight in gold specifically for step by step solutions however it comes at a price of $4.99/mo. At my school we take 1 year of general engineering, where we got to experience classes from a variety of disciplines. I found that I enjoyed chemical engineering classes the most, and decided to make that my major. Computational Methods. Mechanics of Deformable bodies. Dynamics. Materials for Aero and Ocean Engineering. Aircraft performance. The final exam was impossible to complete and the class average was a 39/100 for that. The overall class average was a 48/100. This is followed by stats, the assignments were tough to complete, and the final exam was even tougher as it had too many problems. The class average was 30/90 for the final.Thank you for posting in r/EngineeringStudents. Please be sure you do not ask a general question that has been asked before. Some basic coding/programming classes, physics 1&2 (calc based, not algebra based), and calculus 1-3. You can add diff eq too, but that probably isn’t 100% advisable.Student 1 that's a "B" in intelligence with at least a "B" in work ethic can do well in engineering. Student 2 that's an "A" in intelligence and a "C" in work ethic will have a harder time than Student 1. Many of us fall into this category because Student 1 is afraid to go into the degree.
